Ingredients

  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 package 8 oz of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon sofrito a mix of garlic, onion, bell peppers, cilantro, and aji dulce
  • 1 teaspoon recaíto a blend of cilantro, garlic, and onions
  • ½ cup finely crushed plantain chips
  • 1 teaspoon adobo seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon sazón for a touch of color and flavor
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Crackers or breadsticks for serving

Instructions

  • Mix Cheeses and Flavors: Blend the cheddar and cream cheese in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly sofrito, recaíto, adobo, and half of the sazón.
  • Blend the dry ingredients: In a food processor, mix the plantain chips, walnuts, and half of the sazón.
  • Form the Cheese Ball: Shape the mixture into a ball. If it’s too soft, chill it in the fridge before shaping.
  • Coat the Cheese Ball: Dust the cheese ball with the dry ingredients.
  • Refrigerate: Chill the cheese ball for an hour to firm up.
  • Serve: Enjoy with crackers, breadsticks, or even additional plantain chips.
